EU Legislation: the CEREP database
According to Article 11 (2) of the EU Regulation on Credit Rating Agencies, "A registered or certified credit rating agency shall make available in a central repository established by ESMA information on its historical performance data, including the ratings transition frequency, and information about credit ratings issued in the past and on their changes. Such a credit rating agency shall provide information to that repository on a standard form as provided for by ESMA. ESMA shall make that information accessible to the public and shall publish summary information on the main developments observed on an annual basis."
This Central Repository of Ratings ("CEREP") is maintained by ESMA and is available following this link.
The CEREP database was made available to the public in February 2012. Rating activity data are updated on a half year basis and are published in April and October. The CEREP database currently contains rating activity data for all ESMA registered or certified Credit Rating Agencies, except Rating-Agentur Expert RA, INC Rating and modeFinance.
